$10.00 Trauma-informed Meditation Workshop

Join Alyssa and Sandra in this workshop, they are excited to walk you through information on the impact of stress, nervous system calming techniques and building meditation practices.

All are welcome to attend!

Whether you have been through chronic high stress situations, a one time event such as a car accident, are a parent supporting a child through hard times, day to day stress of the human experience, or simply are curious to learn more, this workshop can benefit you.

Participants will begin to develop meditation and mindfulness skills in addition to nervous system calming techniques. Information will be shared on how trauma and stress impact the brain and body and how to move beyond the effects of trauma.

We will draw from Buddhist Psychology and yogic spiritual traditions as well as western trauma theories and research to help participants cultivate a sense of understanding, well being and peace.

This workshop is Trauma informed. What does that mean?

Trauma informed simply means that we are aware of how stress impacts the brain and body and have techniques and skills to share on how to calm the nervous system and work with meditation practices when sitting still and turning inward may sometimes be uncomfortable.

During the physical (asana) practice, hands on assists are optional and a consent stone will be used for you to indicate if you want assists or prefer to practice without them. This practice is customary at Stil studio.

Alyssa Gorel

ALYSSA GOREL, RYT 500, LICSW, BCN. Alyssa completed her 200hr & 300hr training through Fluid Yoga and has certificates in HEALing Yoga Level 1&2 and SPA Yoga. Stumbling upon yoga she found she was more at peace after class. This led her to pursue yoga further to understand the mind, body connection and why yoga made her feel more balanced and happy. This journey naturally led to wanting to be a Yoga Teacher in order to share the benefits of yoga with others. Through exploring the mind, body and spirit connection in fluid style classes she aims to help you create the inner and outer space to find harmony and peace. In her classes she attunes to the needs of students in that given moment, offering a variety of options that invite turning up the heat, or backing off their edge based on listening to their body as the primary guide. By the end of class you will have practiced keeping the mind focused, attending to the needs of the body and meeting it right where it is at with compassion and acceptance in order to arrive at complete relaxation and renewal.
