nodd primer: foundations of sleep

Sleep is truly restorative and important for our health but what if you're not getting any, or enough of it? What if sleep is something that used to come easy and now feels impossible? Does it trigger stress, spirals, or midnight thought loops? This lack of sleep can create a cloud that follows you everywhere. It makes the days hard to face, and the nights full of dread.

foundations of sleep, is just what you need, a 2 hour workshop designed to help you reconnect with your sleep. We’ll lead you back to seeing sleep not as a problem to solve, but a relationship to rebuild.

We explore:
- how sleep actually works, some science, but not too much
- what does it actually mean to sleep and what works for me
- “sleep rules” and "sleep hygiene" and how they create more pressure than relieve it
- what your sleep needs to feel safe and possible again
- finding non sleep deep rest (NSDR), and how a little of this goes a long way

This workshop will bring back your confidence and curiosity when it comes to sleep, it will open your mind to what might be interfering. We'll learn to listen, understand and say yes to the rhythm already within.
If you attend, for no other reason, you’ll be able to enjoy a 30 minute guided relaxation known as yoga nidra (NSDR) at the end of the workshop which will definitely help you to nodd off.

We will also discuss the group program offered by nodd known as nodd together. A three month restorative experience for sleep that will guide you away from chronic insomnia.

Jennifer Frey

Jen found her way to freedom from 20 years of chronic insomnia after trying every type of sleep hygiene/solution out there. Having been trained in mindfulness and yoga through her yoga teacher training with Fluid Yoga she applies this mindfulness approach to her sleep therapy and coaching business, nodd: say yes to rest. nodd helps you reclaim sleep by repairing your relationship to it. With permission, science and self-discovery we recondition the body and mind to reconnect to the joys of nodding off! Her mission since resolving her own insomnia is to put everyone to sleep. Introductory, group and one on one sessions are comfortable, relaxed and relatable.

In addition to sleep coaching Jen offers meditation and yoga classes as well as workshops for yoga and meditation basics. Jen is a teacher, mentor and a lead instructor for the Fluid Yoga School 200 Hour Teacher Trainings. The program is offered annually in Vermont, Massachusetts, Maine and Virginia.

She is the owner of Village Yoga in Southern Vermont, a movement and mindfulness studio since 2014.
